People on a Mission is presented as a community activist group that engages the public to stop, help, aid, or support what appear to be public campaigns. The group often talks about how these campaigns are critical to stopping the "end of society." "The Five", a core group of personalities running the community activist group, are themselves time travelers from the "near-distant future" who have returned to the "NOW" to try and stop these events. It is "The Five's" idea that the "end of society" has begun because of "acceptions" — the parts of society the people of "NOW" accept without question, ignore, or overlook.
